Food Ministries

Heart 4 the City sponsors food ministries for the community.

We are partnering with Akron Canton Regional Food Bank to bring their Direct Distribution program to the east side of Akron on the 1st Thursday of every month. From 9-11am, we will distribute approximately 10,000 lbs of food. Must have a photo I.D.

Every Thursday night (except the 1st Thursday of the month), our Food Pantry will be open from 6-7pm.  Must have a photo I.D.

Seasonal Ministries

This is a list of ministries that happen seasonally at Heart 4 the City.

  • Bike Club

Kids involved in this six week program learn to ride and perform routine maintenance on their bikes while learning lessons about Jesus' love for all of us. At the end of the six week program they are allowed to take their bikes home to keep.

Space is limited. Registration opens at the end of May.

  • Good Soil Garden

We are planting ‘seeds’ of kindness and caring for one another! Our growing season provides a bounty of zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, radishes, lettuce, potatoes (to name a few) in The Good Soil Garden! Our harvest is currently for sale every Wednesday. Stop by and say hello if you see us out!

  • Toy Drive

Each year, we accept donations of new, unwrapped toys (dolls, action figures, cars, baby toys, etc), socks, gloves, clothes, make-up and nail polish for older girls, small increment gift cards, wrapping paper, gift bags, etc. during our annual toy drive.

Donations are accepted from Halloween to Thanksgiving.

  • Trunk or Treat

Typically the same night as Trick or Treat in Goodyear Heights. Keep an eye on our site for more information.  Come dressed in your favorite costume and have fun with us!
